Beef Steak with Onion Sauce

I think that making sauce is one of the most difficult techniques in the cuisine. Even if it does not taste like those of a three-star restaurant, you can make a good sauce by using onion and soy sauce. I also used balsamic vinegar in order to add sour taste in the sauce. This enable to reduce the greasy taste of the steak.
You can use any kind of beef steak. Today, I used a rib eye steak because it was a little bit cheaper than other steaks.


Beef steak with onion sauce

Servings: 2 people


  • 2 pieces of rib eye steak or other beef steak
  • 1 onion
  • 4 large spoon of red wine
  • 2 large spoon of balsamic vinegar
  • 1 large spoon of soy sauce
  • 1 small spoon of honey
  • some oregano
  • some olive oil


  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, oregano, and some olive oil on the steak and rub into it.
  • Cut the onion into wedges.
  • Heat the pan, put little olive oil, and fry the onion at a low to middle heat for about 5 – 7 min. Add some salt and pepper.
  • Add red wine, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce and honey in the pan and cook at a low heat for another 10 min until the sauce will get viscous.
  • Heat another pan, put some olive oil and fry the steak. You can add some sliced garlic if you want.
  • Serve the steak with the onion sauce.

  • リブアイステーキ(または他の牛ステーキ) 2枚
  • 玉ねぎ 1個
  • 赤ワイン 大さじ4
  • バルサミコ酢 大さじ2

  • しょうゆ 大さじ1
  • はちみつ 小さじ 1
  • オレガノ少々
  • オリーブオイル適量


  • ステーキに塩こしょう、オレガノ、オリーブオイルをふりかけ、下味をつける。
  • 玉ねぎをくし切りにする。
  • フライパンを熱し、オリーブオイル少々をひき、玉ねぎを弱~中火で5~7分ほど炒める。塩こしょうを少しふる。
  • フライパンに赤ワイン、バルサミコ酢、しょうゆ、はちみつを加え、ソースがとろとろするまで弱火でさらに10分ほど煮込む。
  • 別のフライパンを熱し、オリーブオイルをひき、ステーキを焼く。好みでにんにくスライスを加えてもよい。
  • ステーキを玉ねぎソースと一緒に盛り付ける。
